Semarang | December 27, 2022 - Central Java Regional Police prohibits fireworks on New Year's Eve. However, fireworks are still allowed with the condition of a police permit if the fireworks are on a large scale.
The Head of Public Relations of the Central Java Regional Police, Grand commissioner, M Iqbal Alqudusy, said that detonating fireworks was very dangerous because it could potentially result in fatalities. The use of fireworks can also be charged with the 1951 Emergency Law, just like the use of explosives.
Iqbal Alqudusy also said that many houses had been destroyed by the explosion of fireworks. Meanwhile, the use of fireworks is still permitted at New Year's events but with due regard to safety factors. If the fireworks to be set off are large or on a large scale, a permit from the police is required.
Iqbal emphasized that the police would still carry out strict surveillance during Christmas and new year's events. He appealed to the public to fill New Year's Eve with positive activities with family.
