Semarang | December 15, 2022 - Avatar: The Way of Water is an action-adventure film and sequel to 2009's Avatar, still directed by James Cameron. Avatar: The Way of Water is the sequel film that has the longest release date from the first film.
This film is the second of a total of four planned releases since its premiere in 2009. The film was produced by Lightstorm Entertainment and will be distributed by 20th Century Studios.
The film tells the story of Jake Sully and Neytiri after more than a decade after the events of Avatar. Avatar 2: The Way of Water focuses on the families of Jake Sully, Neytiri, and their children; Neteyam, Lo'ak, Tuk, and Kiri.
Initially, Sully's family life was very happy, but at one point, Jake was disturbed by a group of people led in the form of Avatar Colonel Miles Quaritch.
Jake chooses to flee rather than fight, which forces him to relinquish leadership of the Omaticaya and move his entire family to a secluded island inhabited by the Metkayina clan, led by Tonowari and his pregnant wife Ronal.
Avatar 2: The Way of Water stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, CCH Pounder, Britain Dalton, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, Bailey Bass, and many others.
The film's release has been repeatedly delayed, with the last one occurring on July 23, 2020. Three more sequels are slated to arrive in 2024, 2026, and 2028, though the last two will be dependent on the commercial reception of The Way of Water.
