Semarang | 12 December 2022 – Central Java has become the host of the Nusantara Cultural Customary Festival II.
The festival was held by the Indigenous Peoples of the Archipelago (Matra) at the Lumbini Court of the Borobudur Temple complex, Magelang on Friday 9 December 2022.
The festival was attended by 264 kingdoms and traditional institutions wearing their respective traditional clothes. Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo was present to give a speech at the festival. He wore a red surjan(Javanese traditional upper dress for men) with floral motifs and a black blangkon (a traditional Javanese headgear worn by men and made of batik fabric).
Ganjar's presence was warmly welcomed by the kings present. He sat at the same table with the general chairman of Matra, Andi Bau Malik Barammamase.
The festival includes colossal drama performances involving a number of arts from various regions in the country. Among them are Balinese Dance, Reog to Ireng masks and many more. There are also people's parties, MSME bazaars, culinary and art competitions.
Besides from the kingdoms in Indonesia, the festival was also attended by neighboring countries such as Japan, Malaysia, Thailand and others.
The person in charge of the event, Marsya Maghfirati said that the purpose of the cultural festival was to preserve the cultural customs that existed in Indonesia, which indeed had a background in this country that used to consist of kingdoms.
The man who is often called Aca hopes that this festival will be held, especially for children to get to know more about the cultural customs that exist in their area in this modern era.
