Semarang | November 23, 2022 - Semarang City Government held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) regarding Detailed Engineering Design (DED) of the Great Mijen Mosque and Simpang Lima Underground at Rooms Inc Hotel, Tuesday (22/11).
The construction of the Simpang Lima Underground is one of the RPJMD Strategic Projects for the City of Semarang in the 2021-2026. Simpang Lima Underground itself is included in the PSN, which means that this project is supported by the Central Government.
This FGD was conducted to finalize the potential of the City of Semarang in responding to the increasingly rapid development and the many national strategic projects (PSN) around the City of Semarang.
This development is intended to reduce congestion, especially in the Simpang Lima area, as well as to serve as the economic center of Semarang City, which in its preparation takes into account the RTRW of Semarang City in 2011-2031.
Meanwhile, apart from being a center for worship activities, the Great Mosque of Semarang, which was originally located in Mijen, has also become a new religious icon for the people of Semarang. The Great Mosque of Semarang is predicted to be a religious tourism destination in Semarang.
This is supported by the appointment of Mijen as a strategic area which is strengthened by its placement as a City Tourism Strategic Area in Tourism Development Master Plan 2015-2025.
