Semarang | November 14, 2022 – The Health Department of Semarang City is collecting samples for Whole Genome Sequences (WGS) research which will be studied to determine whether the XBB type of Covid-19 variant has entered Semarang City.
After conducting WGS for several samples in Semarang City, it is hoped that the Health Office can take anticipatory steps to suppress the spread of Covid cases.
The Head of the Health Department of Semarang City, M Abdul Hakam, confirmed that currently, Covid-19 cases in Semarang City are increasing day by day. Even patients with complaints of cold cough who came to the Puskesmas after random sampling were declared to be positive.
The increase in the number of Covid cases in Semarang City per day reached 50 cases due to the start of many sociocultural activities with 100% visitor capacity.
After being traced, the young people who came to the activity were not exposed, but the people around them were those who were over 60 years old or elderly and had not received a full dose of vaccine until they had comorbidities were exposed.
Some sub-districts that have quite high cases can be seen from the level of mobility to mass activities carried out with many visitors. The government urges residents of productive age to continue to comply with health protocols and carry out booster vaccinations.
Because people who have done boosters will not be vulnerable to exposure to Covid-19 and if exposed to no symptoms even within three days have been declared cured.
