Semarang Mayor, Hendrar Prihadi, targets the Nusantara batik exhibition in the Kota Lama area. According to him, exhibitions in busy tourist areas are a strategy to introduce local products to the public.
He believes that the display of the batik products are not only in the city of Semarang and the Nusantara Batik Exhibition can also be a tourist attraction. The Batik Nusantara exhibition itself was held in two locations, namely the Weeskamer Building and the Creative Industry Gallery (GIK).
The exhibition at the Weeskamer Building featured batik from various regions such as DKI Jakarta, Tegal, Pekalongan, Batang, Kendal, Semarang, Kudus, Pati, Banyuwangi, Madura, Solo, Sukoharjo, Sragen, Banyumas, Purbalingga, Magelang, Yogyakarta, and Bengkulu.
In addition, Hendi prepares spaces for 40 UMKM through the Tiban Market. The activity is centered at Jalan Kedasih, Kota Lama Semarang.
The Nusantara batik exhibition can be participated by all people who visit the heritage tourism area of the Kota Lama Semarang.
With various efforts that made to promote Indonesian products, Hendi hopes that visitors will not only see, but also shop.
He also highlights that the domestic products are as good as imported products, it's just that most people are still not proud when using Indonesian brands.
