The Societies still remember when they first discovered Reality Club in 2017 through the song "Is It the Answer?". Beyond its lyrics that depict the complexities and uncertainties of a relationship, accompanied by the rhythmic and jumpy beats of the drums, the dual vocals that highlight contrasting perspectives in the lyrics, and the catchy guitar melodies, this song would later become the benchmark for Reality Club’s early-era signature sound.
That era was what we “heard” when we attended the exclusive listening session of the band’s fourth studio album, “Who Knows Where Life Will Take You?”, by Faiz Novascotia Saripudin, Fathia Izzati, Era Patigo, and Nugi Wicaksono, at Krapela Row on Thursday (August 21). With its 13 new tracks, it felt as though we were revisiting the album “Never Get Better” from eight years ago.
Starting from a nine-day writing session in Ubud, Bali, "Who Knows Where Life Will Take You?" features 13 songs with a strong romantic theme. The album carries on Reality Club's signature style, where Faiz's clever and sincere lyrics blend with captivating melodies, as heard in the melancholic tracks "Muted Sirens" and "You'll Find Lovers Like You and Me."
