But behind it all lies a tougher side, where many newcomers must struggle just to survive. From this reality comes Ratu Ratu Queens, the latest series directed by Lucky Kuswandi and produced by Palari Films in collaboration with Netflix, soon to be released on Netflix.
This series is set before Ali’s story in Ali & Ratu Ratu Queens (2021). It takes the audience back in time to witness how each character’s journey began; the struggles of finding work, facing discrimination, cherishing simple laughter, until they come to realize that being a ‘queen’ is not about the throne, but about resilience and lifting each other up.
