Technological advances have a huge impact on daily life, including the need to protect digital identities from being misused. This issue was highlighted in a workshop held by Dian Nuswantoro University (Udinus) Semarang recently at SDIT Nidaul Hikmah, Salatiga.
The activity titled 'The Importance of Maintaining Digital Identity' involved around 50 participants, including teachers and parents, who enthusiastically followed the material.
According to Suara Peristiwa.id, one of the lecturers at Udinus and the main speaker, Dr. Agus Triyono, M.Si., emphasized the importance of public awareness in protecting personal data in the digital era. Agus stated that personal identification such as ID cards, driver’s licenses, or family cards, often uploaded or shared through instant messaging apps, is vulnerable to misuse by irresponsible parties.
He also reminded digital device users to be more cautious, such as by changing their passwords regularly every six months. This advice aligns with reports in the media. In addition to changing passwords, users should enable two-factor authentication (2FA). Doing so is a simple yet effective way to protect personal data from hacking attempts. The workshop also served as an opportunity for participants to share their experiences and learn together about digital literacy.
Beside to Dr. Agus, Candra Yudha Satria, M.I.Kom., and Nadia Itona, M.Si., also participated as speakers. They enriched the session with practical tips on ensuring digital safety for families. They also encouraged participants to be more discerning in filtering information obtained from the internet.
With the training conducted by lecturers, Udinus once again showed its role as an institution that cares about the development of digital literacy in the community. Hopefully, the community, especially parents and teachers, will be more responsive in facing digital security challenges, so that they can protect themselves and their families from risks in cyberspace.
