Towards the end of 2024, the Industrial Engineering Undergraduate Program at Dian Nuswantoro University (Udinus) recorded a brilliant achievement. The program successfully earned the “Excellent” accreditation from the Independent Accreditation Agency for Engineering Study Programs (LAM Teknik) and international accreditation from the Accreditation Board for Engineering Education (IABEE).
The international accreditation from IABEE was granted with the status “Accredited” in March 2024, as stated in certificate No. 000138.A. Meanwhile, the “Excellent” accreditation from LAM Teknik was awarded in December 2024, as outlined in decision No. 0695/SK/LAM Teknik/AS/XII/2024.
The Dean of Udinus' Faculty of Engineering, Ir. Heru Agus Santoso, Ph.D., IPM, Asean Eng, explained that the journey towards accreditation took a long time. They began preparations in 2021 to establish the Industrial Engineering program as a superior and internationally recognized undergraduate study program.
He added that the preparation for superior and international accreditation is integrated with various programs and grants from the government, such as the Merdeka Campus Competition Program (PKKM) and the Kedaireka Matching Fund, directed at achieving KPI 8, namely superior international study programs. The curriculum based on learning outcomes or outcome based education (OBE) has also been tested with the receipt of Provisional Accreditation from IABEE in 2021.
IABEE, which has obtained full signatory Washington Accord for Indonesia, has been recognized as an International Accreditation Agency by the Government in the fields of Engineering, Technology, Engineering, Informatics and Computing according to KEPMENDIKBUDRISTEK Number 236/O/2024. On the other hand, Excellent accreditation from LAM Engineering is present as a guardian of the quality of engineering education in Indonesia, accrediting engineering study programs with the highest standards in order to produce superior quality graduates.
He also highlighted that the international accreditation obtained by Udinus' Bachelor of Industrial Engineering Program provides important global recognition for Udinus students. Udinus Faculty of Engineering also provides Diploma Supplement or Certificate of Diploma Companion (SKPI) to its graduates. Heru added that the SKPI, which is integrated with OBE, contains a complete portfolio of students from the beginning to the end of their studies, including their competencies.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Undergraduate Industrial Engineering Program, Dr. Herwin Suprijono, M.T., stated that the program is committed to maintaining and enhancing the quality of its curriculum to meet international standards. He also expressed hope that this accreditation will boost public trust in the Industrial Engineering Program at Udinus.
With the achievement of superior and international accreditation, the Industrial Engineering Program at Udinus has further solidified its position as one of the best engineering programs in Indonesia by receiving the 2024 Industrial Engineering Award from the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII). This accomplishment serves as tangible proof of Udinus's commitment to delivering high-quality education capable of competing on the international stage.
