Before entering the world of work, personal branding or a positive self-image is an essential aspect that needs to be prepared as a form of individual readiness. To instill this understanding in students, the Faculty of Computer Science (FIK) at Dian Nuswantoro University (Udinus) organized a seminar titled 'Branding and Beyond’.

The seminar was a series of programs from Career Guidance (BK) FIK Udinus which took place in the Hall of Building E, 3rd floor of Udinus Semarang. It was attended by a group of students from the Communication Science (Ilkom) and Film and Television (FTV) study programs, which took place some time ago.

The personal branding seminar is indeed a routine programme and an output for the BK course. This was conveyed by the Career Guidance Coordinator of FIK Udinus, Devi Purnamasari, M.I.Kom.

Furthermore, Devi mentioned that this year's seminar focused on ethics and character. According to her, hard skills can be learned externally, but ethics are part of character that must be developed over a long period.

The three invited speakers were Tantida Isa, the Head of Corporate Communication Subsection at BUMN Perhutani Central Java Division; Aris Budiyanto, AVP of Postpaid Operations at Indosat Semarang; and Akhmad Fesdi Anggoro, a Motion Graphic Designer and VFX Artist.

The first presentation on personal branding and career opportunities in state-owned enterprises (BUMN) was delivered by Tantida Isa. She shared tips on job interviews, starting with the first essential step: researching the company profile.

The next presentation was delivered by Aris Budiyanto who talked about the steps of personal branding. Personal branding is about creating a distinct and memorable image.

There are 3 essentials of personal branding here, namely personal identity which refers to how they see themselves as something different from others.

Then, the seminar was closed with a presentation on the creative industry delivered by Ahmad Fesdi Anggoro. He discussed the preparations for entering the creative world, which include hard skills and soft skills.

Not only that, but he also emphasized that in the creative industry, there are ethics that must be adhered to. This includes professional ethics, ethics in communication, ethics in teamwork, ethics in conflict, and ethics in innovation and competition.
