The trio GAC (Gamaliél Audrey Cantika) is back, greeting their fans with a classy single. After their return from a three-year hiatus, the group has released four works, one of which is a new song titled “HIGHER” which can be enjoyed since last Friday (13/9).
“HIGHER” is an emotional song that tells the story of letting go of a loved one even though the love is still very much there. This song is a reflection of the more mature meaning of love, where love does not always mean having, but sometimes it means letting go for a better purpose for both parties. This topic of love is a new touch that GAC has brought to their work this time.
Cantika describes the heavy feelings behind the song, “This song is about a very strong love. Where at first we thought he was the one who would accompany us forever. They even feel so compatible that they believe they can achieve their dreams together as a couple. But after many years, it turns out that all their efforts together must fail because of one painful thing or another.
But we know this pain won't let us support each other in achieving our dreams individually. The AMI Awards-winning also said that the song is a reminder to people who are experiencing similar feelings. Instead of forcing yourself to stay together, it's better to let go of the burden in exchange for something better.
This sad story was also felt by the three personnel to be packaged in a special way. Pop ballad music with a touch of R&B is the perfect weapon to immerse the listeners' feelings.
The choice of the music genre was based on the GAC personnel who felt nostalgic for the R&B pop ballad era in the 90s to early 2000s. Gamaliél said, “We really miss the R&B ballad songs of that era, which are now rarely heard. Finally, the three of us agreed to invite Aldi Nada Permana to produce and help realize our dream song.” In writing the lyric GAC collaborated again with ROF, their bestfriend, to make the message they wanted to convey.
Not only strong inside of the story, “HIGHER” also highlights the harmony and melody that collaborate with GAC’s unique vocal that is full of harmony. Aldi Nada Permana came on as the producer with the support of Ano Stavano in the mixing and mastering process.
Interestingly, the emotional single is one of GAC’s ways to introduce their new musical journey. For the next, “HIGHHER” will be included in their fourth album that will be released soon. Currently, GAC already has three other songs known as “BARU”, “REALLY REALLY WANT”, and “THE WAY YOU MOVE” which has been released since last year.
