Faculty of Engineering (FT) Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) were introduced to various basic materials, including the importance of Occupational Health and Safety (K3). The activity was held on the third day of Dinus Inside 2024 which took place at the yard of building I on Wednesday, 11 September 2024.

FT Udinus lecturer, Ir. Amalia MT, IPM, ASEAN Eng. who was the main event speaker, delivered a number of important guidelines related to K3. According to Amalia, health and safety are the top priorities. The material was delivered so that students understand the importance of K3. According to her, engineering students are expected to be more vigilant and proactive in maintaining safety, especially in the laboratory environment.

“We want to be sure that new students understand the risks that may occur in the campus environment, as well as ways to avoid them,” Amalia said during the discussion session.

Furthermore, Amalia explained that students are also expected to play an active role if they witness incidents, such as robbery or violence on campus. The goal is to create a safer and more conducive campus environment for all parties.

“Immediately report the incident to P2K3. Students can help by becoming witnesses, so that the university can immediately investigate,” he added.

In addition to discussing safety aspects, Amalia also emphasized the importance of maintaining physical health during the lecture period, especially in the use of gadgets and laptops. She suggested that students maintain a viewing distance of about 20 feet or 6 meters after a long stare at a cellphone or laptop screen, to maintain eye health.

“A good sitting position is very important in order to avoid saraf terjepit or spinal disorder. This might be a simple thing and everyone knows about it, however, not many are actually implementing it, so that’s why I emphasize it here again.” Amalia explained.

With this material, it is hoped that Udinus Faculty of Engineering students will not only focus on academic achievement, but also maintain their health and safety on campus.

For information, Dinus Inside is an orientation activity for new students of Udinus which in this year was attended by 3,567 students. which took place for three days on Monday-Wednesday, September 9-11, 2024, aims to introduce the lecture system and various important aspects of the campus environment.
